This is Our Song
by and published in Edition Six of Pomegranate
You gripe, mutter under your breath
a phonograph left in another room
stylus loose of the groove.
A harmony
without the tune, I nag white noise
beyond the curtains
upright in a chamber, blackboard-black
our sheets littered
with symbols, codes,
encrusted with chalky modes, a static
neither of us hears.
