Pomegranate — Poetry with bits in!

Tattoo

A gilded cage between the shoulder blades.
She grows old, fattens, her skin
sagging like the amorphous panes
of early mansions: the iridescent
lines widen and concave. By middle age,
the distance between two bars
will easily accommodate a wren.

Weihui Lu

Weihui Lu is 17, and spends what little free time she has concocting bubble tea, poems, and tattoo designs (the latter for clients). She has work recently published / forthcoming in Neon, Soundzine, The Kenyon Review, etc. Her manuscript Pompeii Under Your Eyelids was published by The Roundtable Review as the winner of their 2008 Mini-Chapbook Contest. She is the evil Art overlord of Mimesis, a sexy poetry magazine with illustrations to match. Occassional personal/poetic blather can be found at quietlplease.blogspot.com
