Pomegranate — Poetry with bits in!

Saint

by and published in Edition Eight of Pomegranate

How inadequate a prize that pre-nominal is
for men who give their years to the wind as free,
as unprotected as balloons. Anyone who implies
words are an adequate reward has never been called
to let go their life for humility –
so it is with the painters
who confound saints’ heads with halos.

Ben Davison

Ben Davison is twenty-two and lives in Glasgow. He has a poem forthcoming in The New Writer and was a runner-up in a recent competition held by Envoi magazine. Ben’s dad keeps typing his name into Google and finding his poems. This is very annoying.
