October
by and published in Edition Seven of Pomegranate
It’s October – time to dissolve in the
deep orange leaf litter
of the beech wood,
to slip into compost like
an unopened letter
unread until the leaves
rebud on rain black branches
and spring unravels words
like hands to clap with.
Nothing outside the wood
or the valley white with rain.
